About

Stomping Ground Strategies is a strategic communications and public affairs consulting group on a mission to advance progressive ideas. In a world of contrived messages and empty words, their style cuts through. Built on years of experience in communications, public policy and grassroots community engagement, they bring diverse voices to the table to help clients connect with people in powerful and resonant ways.

They work with political campaigns, elected officials, advocacy and nonprofit groups and companies to help them communicate, engage and get results, and they’re unafraid to take on big challenges. They believe that powerful messaging is rooted in smart policy, and no one needs to sacrifice one for the other.

The Request

Rebecca and Isabelle from Stomping Ground Strategies came to us with a plan to launch a new Communications-focused consulting company based in Chicago and were in need of a founding brand identity and new website. Their chosen name, “Stomping Ground,” comes from the idea of going back to or honoring your stomping grounds- where you’re from, a place that’s important to you, a place where you developed great values and that you’re gonna protect. A name invoking a communal, almost nostalgic gathering notion, but tough and bold as well implying that they and their clients don’t BS or mess around. While the founders have worked together on for a number of years, Stomping Ground Strategies is meant to be a new name in the political landscape with plans to shake things up in the political community and with how this work is done.

What We Did

Starting out with discovery conversations, Rebecca and Isabelle dived in with David on business and marketing goals and the audience, tone, and personality they wanted their new company’s brand to convey. We gathered inspiration, secured stock photos, and collaborated on a Creative Direction document to help move things forward from scratch. After a number of rounds of both logo/brand identity and website concept drafting, the team settled on a unique set of branding elements and colors that they loved. They had new headshots taken, we finalized the website development, designed some initial business cards, and they launched publicly on New Years Day.
